Hamp Hack is the first ever interdisciplinary Hackathon event gathering over 200 people in its first edition from fields of design, technology, fabrication and art. These people with their versatile skill-set gather under one roof to develop working prototype solutions for the problems that resonate in the world around us. Hamp Hack is an annual event that takes place in the spring semester of each year at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
Usually Hackathons involve technology enthusiasts coming together to make more tech. However, Hamp Hack is the home to ALL enthusiastic student makers belonging to different fields of study coming from all around the United States. These students have developed some astounding projects ranging from a mind controlled autonomous car to a huge rube-goldberg's machine!
"Mr. Dave recently organized and hosted the first hackathon where you don’t need to know how to code to participate. Only two months into his first semester of college, he pitched the idea of a hackathon that pairs coders with people of other disciplines to the school, and soon began assembling a team of 25 core organizers. Hundreds of people from all over the country wanted to attend, and earlier this month, HampHack, finally happened."
